 Since 2016, his work Mayflies is a photographic series that continues to evolve on temporary communities, ritual time, and the construction of identity. The project is regularly expanded.

Kukeri & other masquerade traditions

2026–present, eastern europe

Darren attended SURVA: the International Festival Masquerade Games in Sofia in 2026. Taking place each January, it features thousands of performers, in elaborate handmade animal-skin costumes and heavy metal bells, who perform rituals to ward off evil spirits. Recognised as UNESCO heritage, the festival offers a look into Balkan folklore.
